This week at The Ridge
Eileen and I had a splendid time last week in Nebraska with our family, specifically with our grandchildren! We logged over 1500 miles on the trip, so we came back a little beat, but happy.
I really appreciate John Lyons covering the pulpit, and doing a great job, as well as Garret with the worship team.
This week is Mother’s Day, of course. We will have a special gift for every mother who attends, and a big prize for one lucky mom to be chosen randomly!
Robert Rennecker, one the vets who stays at Donna’s house—and one of our new members— passed away this week. his funeral will be on Monday at the C. M. Sloan & Sons Funeral home at 1327 North Wells at 11 am.
Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 on Monday, with the burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The month of Ramadan begins at sunset on Tuesday, May 15, and continues through June 14. Muslims fast until sundown each day. This is also a great time for us to focus on praying and fasting for their salvation. We will have a short video on Sunday to tell us a little more about this.
The church garage sale May 31-June 2. We have storage space in the pavilion for your donations.
We also need volunteers to help organize all of our donations (there are many!), and we will need those willing to be on site during the three days of the sale. We have a sign-up in the lobby for both of these tasks.
The Men’s Work Day has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, May 12, beginning at 9:00 again. I’ll look forward to seeing you all there!
is sponsoring a camp out event, right here on our grounds. The scouts will be helping out, since camping is their
. There is no charge for the event, but bring your own food and tents. You can also bring your bicycles and helmets, for we are going to be spinning around Shoaff Park!
If you have any questions, please see Julia Dunlap or Angie Baxter.
Sunday evening, Andy Baxter will begin a Financial Peace University (FPU) session. This is something that I believe every American believer should attend at some point. I’ve gone through it several times.
Our responsibility with our money before God is no small thing. It affects everything in our lives. I have read that money is a major factor in 80% of divorces. On the other hand, those who have attended FPU have on average paid off over $5,300 in debt and saved $2,700 during this 91-day program!
I should also point out that the leaders of our children’s ministries are using FPU materials to teach our little ones about money and responsibility. I never heard such things when I was a child growing up in church, and so much wish I would have.
Here are links to the songs for this week:
Days of Elijah
In Christ Alone
Because of Who you are
No Longer Slaves
Bring mom to church! Buy her gifts! We’ll see you Sunday!
