This week at The Ridge
Our new study is looking at
Four Cups of the Seder
, and their significance not only in the traditional Jewish ceremony, but to the church and to us. The first cup is
The Cup of Sanctification
, and reminds us that we are set apart to the Lord for his purposes.
The second cup, that we will look at this week, is
The Cup of Instruction
. Our text is Deuteronomy 6.4-9.
Remember to pray daily for the missionaries you signed up for at the Missions Convention!
Our annual read-through-the-Bible begins a week from Monday, April 1.
We read from different places in the Bible. We begin in Genesis, Isaiah, Psalms, and Matthew; one chapter each per day. On the site, I have reading schedules to follow, and even personal check-off schedules that you can print. I have printed off about twenty of these, and they will be available to you on Sunday morning.
The group is on Facebook, and you need to have a Facebook username to join. If you don’t have a username, it’s very easy to create. You only need a valid email.
to sign up for Facebook.
Once you create a username, or if you already have one,
to request to join the Bible Readers group. I will approve you!
We are just about out of time to finish the two-hour prayer challenge, which many of you accepted. Before the end of March, find a clean, two-hour slot on your schedule to spend time alone in the quiet with the Lord, reflecting on his names.
Of course you may always do this later, but the reason for the challenge is that if we do not put a time frame on it, there is a good chance that it will be put off indefinitely! If you have already completed this, I would love to hear from you about your experience.
I promised copies of the names of God. There are printed copies on the prayer table at the rear of the sanctuary. You can also view and/or download them online
We have changed the date for our Seder to Palm Sunday evening, April 14th. The cost will be the same as last year: 10/adult, 15/couple, 5/child with a $25 family maximum. It’s a great meal, and a wonderful learning time together. It’s educational, spiritual and fun! What could be better than that?
Everything begins at 5:00 pm.
Our Easter choir and band are coming together nicely! Make sure you invite a lot of people to come in and hear them! And be in prayer for our Easter service. This is always a great time to invite people, and we normally have visitors anyway.
Men’s Bible Study and the Youth Group will both meet at 6:00 Sunday evening at
We would like to give opportunities for baptism on Sunday, April 28 in the morning service. If you or anyone you know are interested, please let us know! And we may have a brand new believer being baptized in this service!
Please remember to give toward your faith promise. Please use the envelopes to designate which part of your giving is tithe, which is missions, and any other specific giving that you would like to specify. There are envelopes in the lobby on the main table (on the left side).
If you do not designate your faith promise, we will not know that, and it will not be given toward missions.
Also, I trust that everyone realizes that the faith promise needs to be above and beyond your tithe giving. If we could just take it out of the tithe, there would be no need to make faith promises!
If there are any issues, questions, or problems with giving your faith promise, please do not hesitate to ask me. This is not intended to be a wearisome burden for anyone, but a blessing in being able to give to the cause of the kingdom around the world.
Discipleship coaching will not take place this week.
Easter Egg Hunt is on for Saturday, April 20!
The seven local Missionary churches that have hosted our Advent Services in December are getting together again to host a Good Friday Service at Northpoint Community Church, 10513 Leo Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
We moved our Seder to Sunday evening, so this should make it easier to attend the Good Friday service.
